MMRG and LRCT Join up for Copple Crown Mountain Hike

Over two dozen hikers joined Art Slocum, Chair of Moose Mountains Regional Greenways (MMRG) and Lakes Region Conservation Trust (LRCT) property adopter, up Copple Crown Mountain. Participants followed the 2.6-mile Copple Crown Trail to the summit of Copple Crown, where they enjoyed spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee, the Belknaps, Lake Wentworth, the Ossipees, and the Sandwich Range to the west and north and views from the eastern outlook to Moose Mountain and towards the seacoast.

The hike was co-sponsored by LRCT, which acquired the 732 acres in Brookfield, comprising the Copple Crown Conservation Area, in 1996. Art shared some of the history of this mountain during the hike which was postponed twice due to extremely wet trail conditions in early-September and inclement weather this past weekend.
