MMRG IN ACTION

MMRG Festivities set for February 4, 2013

Moose Mountains Regional Greenways will hold its 2013 Annual Meeting on Monday, February 4, from 6 to 9 pm at the Wolfeboro Inn. This festive occasion will include a cocktail/social hour and silent auction, a served sit down dinner, a slide show and talk by Maine NEMO Educator Lamarr Clannon, presentations of MMRG awards, and a brief business meeting and update on MMRG news. The snow date is February 5.

The silent auction provides a great hour of entertainment as well as being a successful fundraiser for MMRG. All auction items are generously donated by area businesses and individuals and the proceeds support MMRG’s land conservation and educational outreach work. This year’s auction items include a pair of handmade slat-backed Shaker chairs, a beginning birder’s individual tutoring session, a vacation rental on Lovell Lake, two cords of split firewood, a ride in a vintage automobile, numerous gift certificates, nature books, art pieces, and other delightful items.

As coordinator of the Maine Program for Nonpoint Education of Municipal Officials (NEMO), guest presenter Lamarr Clannon taught community land use decision-makers about balancing growth and protecting natural resources. A dynamic and engaging speaker, she will emphasize the interconnections between land use and water quality in a talk titled “Suck it up and Soak it in - How Low Impact Development can Sustain our Children’s Water”.

The Wolfeboro Inn will offer a three course dinner including a winter soup, a choice of chicken, beef, or vegetarian entrée served with potatoes and vegetables, and dessert. The cost is $25 for the chicken or vegetarian dinner and $30 for the beef option. The Inn can accommodate most dietary constraints if notified in advance. MMRG is grateful to the Wolfeboro Inn for donating their room for this event.

The public is welcome to join this annual community celebration of Moose Mountains Regional Greenways. Spaces are limited and RSVP’s are required; to reserve a place (or to donate an auction item), please contact Executive Director Virginia Long by Monday, January 28. Call (603) 473-2020, email info@mmrg.info or mail your check to MMRG, PO Box 191, Union, NH 03887; Attn: Dinner.
